:LU) and Adornis.com today announced plans to deliver a sophisticated E-commerce solution which integrates an Internet customer contact center with data, voice and multimedia capabilities. The contract is worth US$9.5 million with a potential of US$20.5 million over three years.

Adornis.com, an online fine jewelry store which draws its management from companies such as Tiffany and Hermes, will bring the latest Internet technology to fine jewelry shopping. The Adornis.com Web site -- which will be launched in October -- will feature world-class jewelry designers, a broad merchandise selection, and extensive content to help shoppers make informed purchasing decisions. The company's interactive Web site is being designed by Nua, one of Europe's leading Internet consulting companies.

Lucent will provide Adornis.com with a customer relationship management (CRM) solution -- CentreVu(R) Internet Solutions --which will integrate all forms of customer communications into one seamless process. For example, Adornis.com's customers will be able to get multiple views of each item, and at the same time speak with an agent over the same Internet connection using Lucent's "click to talk" feature.

The CentreVu Internet Solutions let customers choose to communicate with a specialist using real time voice over the Internet or by simply typing questions, while continuing to browse the Adornis.com Web site. In addition, this new generation of Web commerce includes enhanced security for business transactions including the Lucent RealSecure(TM) intrusion detection See IDS and IPS.  engine, which prevents hackers from breaking into the network.

Adornis.com will be a showcase for a faster and more varied multimedia purchasing experience for the Internet using Lucent's innovative E-commerce CentreVu(R) Internet Solutions contact center software, routing, caching, security and VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks.  gateway technology to sell fine jewelry.
