Low-cost process monitor for reject containment.

An economical process-monitoring system tailored specifically for automated reject containment is one of several new products from RJG RJG Arctic Skate (FAO fish species code) , Inc., Traverse City Traverse City, city (1990 pop. 15,155), seat of Grand Traverse co., N Mich., at the head of the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay, in a resort and cherry-growing region; inc. 1881. , Mich. New eDARTflx (pictured) costs 45% less than a full eDART monitoring system. It uses cavity-pressure sensors to detect process variations that could produce abnormal parts. Process limits can be set for three-way sorting of good, bad, and suspect parts.

Also new is the Lynx Quad temperature module, which acts as a multi-channel interface between thermocouples on a mold, machine, or auxiliary equipment Noun 1. auxiliary equipment - electronic equipment not in direct communication (or under the control of) the central processing unit

and an eDART monitoring system. RJG also came out with the Lynx mold-mount piezo "Piezo", derived from the Greek piezein, which means to squeeze or press, is a prefix used in:
  • Piezoelectricity
  • Piezometer
  • Piezo ignition
  • Piezoelectric sensor
  • Piezoelectric loudspeakers
adapter, which is an interface between all major brands of piezoelectric The property of certain crystals that causes them to produce voltage when a mechanical pressure is applied to them such as sound vibrations. This technique is used to build crystal microphones, phonograph cartridges and strain gauges, all of which turn mechanical movement into voltage.  cavity-pressure sensors. Because it mounts on the mold, it avoids costly extension cables and protects against connector contamination--a major source of problems with piezo sensors. Tel: (231) 947-3111 * www.rjginc.com

In addition, RJG is now working with ShapeGrabber Inc., Ottawa, Ont., to use ShapeGrabber 3D laser scanners and digitizers for fast, accurate, and highly detailed inspection of part dimensions and individual part features. Such readings can be correlated to cavity-pressure data from RJG's eDART system for automated QC and pass/fail parts sorting. RJG has a ShapeGrabber system in its training lab.
