Overall, Europe now has 50 LCCs, down by two since last year, with low-cost companies operating out of 22 countries. The UK still is the largest low-cost market, with 32% of its flights operated by LCCs. This compares with a 21% share in Poland and Spain. Finland, Poland, Denmark and Latvia have seen the low-cost market share jump by more than 5% but others, including Hungary, Slovenia and Greece, have lost market share. A 2% increase per year is the average, which is the same rate of market share growth seen in previous years. Inc. will help it attract - and retain - more customers in a super-heated competitive environment. The Denver-based carrier recently signed a three-year agreement that lets members of its Early Returns loyalty program earn two miles for every dollar they spend at higher-end Marriott hotels. Customers earn one mile per dollar spent for stays at the chain's less-expensive properties and can also swap Marriott points for Frontier miles. The deal marks Frontier's first partnership with a major hotel chain, giving its customers another way to earn miles toward free flights and other merchandise.
