JetBlue Airways said June RASM rose an estimated 9% from the year-ago month. It flew 2.25 billion RPMs last month, up 12.7% year-over-year. Capacity rose 10.4% to 2.69 billion ASMs and load factor was up 1.7 points to 83.8%. Jul 9, 2007

Southwest Airlines said it will accept PayPal payments for tickets purchased on its website. PayPal is an eBay subsidiary that allows account-holding customers to pay for online transactions through various means without submitting financial information to the vendor. Jul 11, 2007

Virgin America Virgin America is a U.S. based low-cost airline that began service on 8 August 2007. The airline's stated aim is to provide low-fare, high-quality service for "long-haul point-to-point service between major metropolitan cities on the Eastern and West Coast seaboards".  

Virgin America received approval from the US Dept. of Transportation to begin selling tickets in advance of its launch, which is planned for next month. The San Francisco-based startup said it is fully staffed, has taken delivery of 10 new Airbus A319s/A320s and is "ready to advertise, sell tickets and operate the airline." It did not disclose a specific launch date. After a lengthy and somewhat controversial application process, it received DOT approval in May. Jul 12, 2007
