Lovers forever.

On the lush grounds of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles you can find the bust of punk rocker Johnny Ramone, the resting place of classic screen idol Tyrone Power, and an homage to the great Rudolph Valentino. And now there's a monument to the 30-year same-sex partnership of Orin Kennedy and Bernardo Puccio--even though they're not dead yet.

"This isn't a gay cemetery, but this is as close as you're going to get," said Kennedy, 67, a television location manager, gesturing toward the lake as geese and swans floated by. "With all the celebrities nearby, it makes it more theatrical," said Puccio. "And more gay."

In an effort to send a message about gay love and commitment to future generations, the men have built a Carrera marble memorial on the famed cemetery's lake. Although the longtime Los Angeles residents are perfectly healthy--and not overly morbid--they decided to plan ahead for their earthly demise.

"About 12 or 14 years ago, we asked, 'What happens when we go?'" said Puccio, 62, an interior designer who has decorated the homes of stars like Lana Turner and Telly Savalas. The two men knew they wanted to be cremated, but they also yearned to commemorate their love in a public fashion. Installing a Grecian memorial at Hollywood Forever seemed like a natural choice.

Behind its columns and above the urn that will hold the lovers' ashes is the message TWO HEARTS. TWO SOULS. TOGETHER IN LIFE. FOREVER IN ETERNITY. "Romantically, we wanted people to know we once lived, loved, and walked this earth and that our spirits exist somewhere," Kennedy said. "There's something wonderful in knowing that in 100 years someone will walk by and say, 'Who were they?'"
