Author Rodney Marcus (RM) Johnson's latest novel has all the makings of a contemporary love story. Love Frustration features surprising plot twists, a cast of realistic characters and a quixotic quix·ot·ic   also quix·ot·i·cal

love in all the wrong places.

Set in Chicago, Jayson Abrahms is one together brotha. He's smart, young, good looking and rich. And it might seem as if the successful entrepreneur would have the pick of any woman in the Windy City for his soul mate. Instead, Jayson ends up hopping from one bed to another in a series of sleazy slea·zy

, tawdry one-night stands with dozens of nameless, faceless women. But the routine gets old fast.

Frustrated and depressed, Jayson gives up on love and accepts the impending im·pend

notion that he may end up spending his life alone. finally, he meets Faith, the woman of his dreams. But what starts out as an idyllic romance, quickly becomes a nightmare for Jayson. He begins to discover that Faith is not at all she appears to be and harbors a number of deep, dark secrets. And for the first time, Jayson starts to look at Asha, a woman he deems his "best friend" very differently.

Love Frustration is Johnson's fourth novel and perhaps his best. Johnson, who originally hails from Chicago but now calls Atlanta home, has done a splendid job of creating a main character that immediately evokes sympathy and compassion.

Unlike many characters in similar looking-for-love novels recently released, Jayson is genuinely a good guy who struck it rich professionally, yet continues to strike out personally. Johnson has chucked the overused formula that features a despicable guy who lies, cheats, steals, backstabs and uses and abuses everyone, especially women, in order to get what he wants in and out of bed.

Instead, Love Frustration is a dynamic book and showcases Johnson's exceptional growth and talent as a fiction writer.
