Louise quit Emmerdale to become law student.
SOAP star Louise Beattie was so inspired by her role as a legal eagle that she has enrolled at law school.
The youngest member of the showbiz dynasty led by her father Johnny, Louise hit the big time as lawyer Laura Johnstone in Emmerdale.
Glasgow-born Louise's tough-talking character became a firm favourite with the Yorkshire soap's 10 million fans when she dumped wheelchair-bound villain Chris Tate, played by Peter Amory, after a torrid affair.
The on-screen romance ended when the actress quit the soap last year.
But Louise was secretly juggling her demanding role with studies for a real-life law degree at Glasgow University.
The 33-year-old is in the third year of a five-year course, but she has managed to keep news of her studies secret - until now.
Her dad, veteran comic Johnny, said: "As well as studying, she's still keeping her acting going as well, that's why she's kept it so quiet.
"She's tried to keep a low profile in case casting agents think that she's not available for work, which is not the case at all."
A pal added: "It was bound to come out some time, but if anyone can keep a foot in both camps it's Louise."
