Los Angeles Police Foundation Board Members Lenny Sands and Elliott Broidy Make Donation for Development of Senior Staff Command Center.


- New Command Center Will Allow for Evolving Critical Incidents to be Managed from Police Headquarters -

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton William Joseph 'Bill' Bratton is currently the 54th Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and was formerly Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, the only person to hold both positions.  announced the donation of a senior staff command center at Parker Center police headquarters.

Elliott Broidy and Lenny Sands, both members of the board of directors of the Los Angeles Police Foundation, facilitated the foundation's donation of a command center which will give Chief Bratton and senior level staff the ability to manage evolving critical incidents from police headquarters.

Chief Bratton said, "We rely on the Police Foundation for so many things. Thanks to Mr. Broidy and Mr. Sands, we will be able to respond more effectively during any critical incident, from natural disasters to major crime."

The center will provide command staff with hands-on real-time information upon which to make command decisions. The center's equipment connects to a web-based video conferencing function which will enhance the capability and efficiency of the command center system.

With their Police Foundation colleagues, Mr. Broidy and Mr. Sands are looking at other projects that will enable the LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

 to obtain needed equipment and services quickly to enhance their ability to protect the community.

Mr. Broidy, a private investor, is a member of the United States Homeland Security Advisory Council The Homeland Security Advisory Council is part of the Executive Office of the President. It was created by an Executive Order on March 21, 2002. (Homeland Security Council Executive Order )

In addition to serving on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Police Foundation, he is a member of the President's Export Council, the board of the Rand Corporation Center for Asian Policy, and the board of directors of the USC China Institute.
