The Los Angeles Opera The Los Angeles Opera is an opera company in Los Angeles, California, United States. The company's home base is the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, part of the Los Angeles Music Center.  has named James Conlon music director, to start in July 2006. Conlon has been music director of the Cincinnati May Festival The Cincinnati May Festival is a two-week annual choral festival, usually held in mid-to-late May in Cincinnati, Ohio. The festival's roots go back to the 1840s, when Saengerfests  since 1979. In 2005, he will become music director of the Ravinia Festival, which hosts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chicago Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1891 by Theodore Thomas, who conducted it until his death in 1905. Orchestra Hall was built for it in 1904 with funds raised by public subscription; the hall is now part of Symphony Center, which was completed in 1997.  in its summer residency.
