Downtown Center Business Improvement District (BID), 40 hanging flower baskets will soon grace Sixth Street, Hill Street and Broadway, marking the latest additions to the organization's Project Safe & Clean. More than 3,700 red, white and blue lobelias, alyssum alyssum (əlĭs`əm), any species of the genus Alyssum of the family Cruciferae (mustard family), annual and perennial herbs native to the Mediterranean area. Project Safe & Clean has provided assistance to the community for the Los Angeles Marathon The Los Angeles Marathon is an annual marathon held in Los Angeles, California since 1986. The race starts at about 8:15AM and runs through Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, the Crenshaw district, and , the Academy Awards and Fiesta Broadway." Last month, the Downtown Center BID's purple-shirted patrol conducted a Spring Cleanup around the Civic Center, removing large amounts of debris, weeds and graffiti. Street Works, a nonprofit group for the economically disadvantaged, the Purple Patrol also painted fire hydrants along the sidewalks. Through the end of May, the 53-member Purple Patrol had handled more than 2,300 requests for directions and general visitor questions, and provided various services to some 1,400 property owners and businesses in the District.
