County Establishes An Enterprise Antivirus Agreement With Symantec

to Provide Protection Throughout All Tiers of Their Network

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Los Angeles County (LAC) has partnered with Symantec to provide Internet security solutions and managed security services at all tiers of the county's network.

Under terms of the agreement, LAC will use Symantec antivirus solutions and Symantec Managed Security Services to protect against malicious code at all virus entry points -- the desktop, server and gateway -- and to safeguard the integrity of LAC's systems and data. Los Angeles County covers some 800 square miles, larger than the combined area of the states of Delaware and Rhode Island. With a population of nearly 10 million people and 88 cities within its boundaries, LAC has the second largest public health system in the nation.

As a customer of Symantec Managed Security Services, security experts will provide LAC with live, round-the-clock support to ensure both proactive and reactive protection against current and emerging threats.
