("LORUS") announced today that its lead anti-cancer drug Virulizin(R) demonstrated better anti-tumor activity in mice containing human breast cancer tumor cells than Taxol, one of the current standard treatments available for breast cancer. Additional findings revealed that the most outstanding anti-tumor activity occurred when Virulizin(R) and Taxol were used in combination. Significant tumor growth inhibition Growth inhibition (GI) is a medical term pertaining to cancer therapy and the specific reduction in growth of tumors and oncogene cells by a chemical compound, mechanical therapy (e.g. was observed in two independent tests with a total of 20 mice, including tumor regressions in nine of these mice, of which six experienced complete tumor regressions. These observations were made following a four-week treatment with Virulizin(R). In another study, Lorus found that when treatments with Virulizin(R) and Taxol were combined the anti-tumor activity was the most significant and led to tumor regressions in 15 of 20 mice; eight of which were total regressions.
