Long Island City trade show to be held Nov. 13. (Transcripts).


Businesspeople are invited to meet new clients and vendors, and learn about the hottest spot in the Queens economy, at the Long Island City Business Development Corporation's Annual Luncheon and Trade Show on Nov. 13, at Terrace on the Park Terrace on the Park is a banquet hall in Queens, NY in the former heliport that was a part of the 1964 New York World's Fair. The bulk of the building is suspended in the air by four supports. Admission to the trade show is free with advance registration, and $5 at the door.

The day will start at 9 a.m. with a free panel about services and government programs for the many businesses in Queens that are ethnically based or women or minority-owned. Others are welcome to gain insights into cross-cultural marketing opportunities, and to meet potential new customers and vendors from the multicultural business communities of Queens. A business card exchange will run at the same time.

Exhibitors provide services such as financing, health care, packaging, solid waste management, transportation, security, HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) In the home or small office with a handful of computers, HVAC is more for human comfort than the machines. In large datacenters, a humidity-free room with a steady, cool temperature is essential for the trouble-free , printing, telecommunications, equipment, web site design, mailing, cleaning, marketing and nonprofit technical assistance. Tickets will be sold for LICBDC's celebrated raffle drawing.

Networking continues at LICBDC's Annual Luncheon, with keynote speaker Dan Doctoroff, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding. Maura Markus, president of Citibanking N.A. Retail Distribution Group, will be honored as "Person of the Year." Tickets for the luncheon are $75 for LICBDC members and $85 for non-members.

Long Island City, only five minutes by train from Midtown Manhattan, is a well-known center for manufacturing and high technology companies. It has become a focus for new development with last year's rezoning of 37 blocks between Queens Plaza Queens Plaza can mean the following:
