Logistix Acquires Recovery Division of Softbank Subsidiary.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1999--

See netsourcing, ASP, SSP and facilities management.  services for high-technology companies, announced today it has acquired the Recovery software business from Softbank Content Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Softbank USA, for an undisclosed price.

This announcement follows an earlier purchase of Softbank's Content Manufacturing Division by Logistix in December 1998.

The addition of the Recovery business significantly enhances Logistix' value offering to its PC OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customers by adding a powerful capability to protect and manage the bundled software (1) Applications that are included with new hardware. For example, a new PC often comes with several applications, many of which may be light versions or full versions with no limit on usage. Others may be only 60- or 90-day trial packages. See bundle.  delivered to end-users. The Recovery products include @priori(TM) emergency recovery(TM), a hard disk recovery solution. It is capable of restoring software to its factory-installed state without destroying data and applications subsequently added by the end-user. In addition, the @priori webpatch(TM) product delivers an unsurpassed capability to manage software updates by model type directly via the web. Several PC OEMs are also deploying @priori webpatch as a powerful tool to conduct Internet based one-to-one marketing campaigns. Through @priori products, PC OEMs can support increasingly large numbers of novice customers without increasing their cost of support.
