Logicon awarded Joint Forces Air Component Commander, JFACC, Technology Integration contract.LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1997--Logicon Inc. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :LGN LGN - Linear Graph Notation ) Wednesday announced that it has been awarded a four-year, $22 million Joint Forces Air Component Commander (JFACC JFACC Joint Force Air Component Commander JFACC Joint Force Air Component Command JFACC Joint Forces Air Control Center JFACC Joint Force Air Component Commander's Course ) Technology Integration contract. Under this contract, Logicon will provide for transition, integration, evaluation and demonstration of technologies developed for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), U.S. government agency administered by the Department of Defense (see Defense, United States Department of). (DARPA DARPA: see Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) The name given to the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency during the 1980s. It was later renamed back to ARPA. ) JFACC Program. This program is an advanced information technology system to revolutionize command-and-control of joint and coalition air operations and enable new air operations planning, execution and assessment capabilities. Work will also include management and integration of the system, as well as oversight of the associate contractors. Logicon is also responsible for the incorporation of new technologies, applications and services. Technologies will be provided by JFACC program developers and related DARPA technology efforts in C3/planning, information systems and battlefield awareness. Selected capabilities from each demonstration system will receive operational evaluation The test and analysis of a specific end item or system, insofar as practicable under Service operating conditions, in order to determine if quantity production is warranted considering: a. the increase in military effectiveness to be gained; and b. at Service appointed "Battle Labs" prior to transitioning the JFACC applications to operational architectures. Work will be performed at Logicon offices in San Pedro, Calif., and Arlington, Va., as well as off-site, as specified by the customer.
