Logic's Stellar-Gate30U modem is one of the first USB modems on the market. Ease of installation and configuration has made USB modems a big success for Japanese consumers. Logic's USB modem, utilizing Centillium's Universal Optimizer(TM) Annex C chipsets, will be marketed as part of its Stellar-Gate(TM) line. Centillium's Optimizer chipsets offer the end user "plug and play" options and support either Annex A or Annex C operation based on the choice of software drivers. Centillium's Annex C chipsets are the only proven solution to meet the special requirements for Japan, where Time Compression Multiplexing-Integrated Services Digital Network (TCM-ISDN TCM-ISDN Time Compression Multiplexed Integrated Services Digital Network ) is widely deployed.

"When Centillium innovated a unique solution to overcome the existing problems with Japan's telephony infrastructure, it proved its commitment to Japan's broadband market," stated Masamichi Ishino, department manager of the business division for Logic. "Logic is excited about the opportunity to work with one of the pioneers in developing the Annex C standard and we believe that if our equipment contains a Centillium chip, we will maintain our position as an industry leader."

Along with leading Japanese telecommunications equipment manufacturers, Centillium helped to develop the Annex C technology that is the basis for DSL DSL

"The combined efforts of Centillium and Logic in bringing ADSL modems to retail stores in Japan is extraordinary," stated Dori Braun, vice president of marketing for Centillium's Access Business Unit. "We are committed to bringing next generation broadband technology to the world and this partnership solidifies both our commitment and our leadership in the market."
