LogiMetrics appoints Laird CEO.

PLAINVIEW, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1996--Coincident with the new $3,000,000 financing announced last week, the board of directors of LogiMetrics Inc. elected Richard K. Laird as chairman, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. .

Laird, 47, founded Keptel Inc. in 1983 to pursue new equipment opportunities brought about as a result of the breakup of AT&T. As CEO, Laird directed Keptel's startup and 1987 public offering, growing the company to $50,000,000 in annual revenues before accepting an acquisition offer in late 1994, valued at approximately $90 million, from the $800 million Chicago-based Antec Corporation. Following the acquisition, Laird continued on as Keptel CEO and further served Antec as executive vice president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Laird said:

"I'm delighted to join LogiMetrics at this most interesting point in the Company's development. LogiMetrics has a long and proud history in the very sophisticated radio frequency test and simulation equipment business; a market dominated, until recently, by defense oriented customers. Today's explosive use of microprocessors in every thing from children's toys to personal computers has created new markets for the Company's test and simulation equipment as these products both emit and are sensitive to various radio frequencies. Tough new European laws regulating RF emission and new domestic requirements that all "electronic devices" be turned off during commercial aircraft take-offs and landings Take-Offs and Landings is Rilo Kiley's debut full-length album. It was released in 2001 on the independent label Barsuk Records.

Of Rilo Kiley's solo albums, Take-Offs and Landings contains the most songs sung by band member Blake Sennett, who sings lead on "August,"
evidence the world's growing health and safety concerns that RF emissions be properly measured and controlled. The Company's extensive experiences in these RF fields positions the firm well for new growth in its traditional business."

"In addition, and of great promise, three new LogiMetrics products have recently been deployed in RF broad band communication applications. These new products amplify and rebroadcast very high frequency airborne satellite signals which are later received as either video, voice or data by tiny end user antennas. More than 20 firms ranging from Regional Bell Operating Companies to firms like AT&T and Hughes have applied to the FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  for permission to deliver information in this new fashion, and each now awaits the FCC spectrum auction expected to take place late this year or early next. Successful auction bidders will use this new spectrum domestically to deliver video, voice and data in completion with traditional "wire line" cabled providers and internationally as a system solution that is more economic and faster to deploy. It's estimated that more than $30 billion will be invested in new equipment once these auctions are completed; a robust new market for future LogiMetrics growth."
