KABUL Kabul (kä`bl, kəbl`), city (1997 est. pop. 1,500,000), capital of Afghanistan and of Kabul prov.  (PAN): Abdullah Wardak, governor of the restive central Logar province was killed in a roadside mine blast in Paghman district The Paghman District is situated in the western part of the Kabul Province in Afghanistan. It has a population of 120,000 people, and another 20,000 returnees are expected (2002 official UNHCR est.), of which 70% are Pashtuns and 30% Tajiks.  of the capital Kabul here on Saturday morning.

Paghman police chief Abdur Razaq told Pajhwok Afghan News that the governor was heading to Logar province from his home when his car was hit by a mine near Paghman Road about 8 am.

He said the governor along with his three bodyguards was killed in the blast.
