Logar blast kills five ANA soldiers

PUL-I-ALAM/SHARAN (PAN): A remote controlled bomb explosion has left five combined forces killed in Logar, while another five Taliban guerrillas were killed in different incidents in the southeastern Paktika province, officials said on Tuesday.

Intelligence official at the provincial police headquarters of Logar, Col. Ziaullah informed the remote controlled bomb blew up a vehicle of combined task forces in Pul-i-Yagar area of Sarkh district earlier Tuesday evening.

He added one civilian has also been killed in the blast that left five combined forces killed and completely destroyed their vehicle on their way to the checkpoints. Another two civilians have wounded in the explosion, he continued.

The Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claiming responsibility for the explosion said over eight Afghan soldiers killed in the blast. In neighbouring Paktika officials said two Taliban militants were killed by their own explosives in Janikhel area.

Governor, Dr. Muhammad Akram Khpalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News another three militants were killed in a short clash with the area people in other areas of the same district, earlier Tuesday afternoon.

Separately one civilian was killed and two policemen wounded in a roadside bomb explosion on Sharan-Janikhel Highway this afternoon, he said, the wounded policemen were shifted to Bagram Airbase for treatment.
