Lockheed Sanders receives a $9.9 million contract for upgraded PATRIOT OTTs for the Japan Air Self Defense Force.

NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 1995--Lockheed Sanders' Information Systems Division has received a $9.9 million contract from Tokyo Electron Limited, a Japanese trading company, to furnish a PATRIOT missile system Operator Tactics Trainer (OTT) for the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) and to retrofit one earlier OTT model.

Work will be performed in Merrimack, N.H. with delivery of the trainer, associated spares and ancillary equipment to Japan in January 1996.

The upgraded OTT system features high performance central processors with expanded memory in a distributed architecture configuration; improved reliability; reduced life cycle support costs; and use of off-the-shelf hardware.

The PATRIOT trainer enables one instructor to train eight students simultaneously in the operation of the PATRIOT Air Defense System.

This contract brings to 25 the total number of Patriot trainer systems ordered to date from Lockheed Sanders. In addition to 13 purchased by the U.S. Army, three have been provided to Germany, one to the Royal Netherlands Air Force and one to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the U.S. Government's Foreign Military Sales Program. With this latest contract, a total of seven upgraded systems have been ordered by the Japan Air Self Defense Force.
