Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is a leading multinational aerospace manufacturer and advanced technology company formed in 1995 by the merger of Lockheed Corporation with Martin Marietta.
 has expressed its disappointment over the US Navy's decision to terminate the Littoral Combat Ship The Littoral Combat Ship is the first of the U.S. Navy's next-generation surface combatants. Intended as a relatively small surface vessel for operations in the littoral region (close to shore), the LCS is smaller than the Navy's guided missile frigates, and have been compared to  (LCS LCS - Language for Communicating Systems ) programme after only one of the two ships has been built and commissioned. The Navy Secretary announced that the stop-work order would be lifted if LM agreed to a fixed-price incentive contract for the second vessel. LM officials express dismay that they would not have the opportunity to apply lessons learned to the second ship's construction.
