Corp. when it releases its fourth-quarter and year-end financial results for 1990 this week. The financial statement could be released Feb. 4.

In the fourth quarter of 1989, Lockheed reported a per-share loss of $1.72, due largely to several writeoffs, including $300 largely to several writeoffs, including $300 million on the P-5A program. For full-year 1989, Lockheed earned 3 cents a share.

Analysts predicted that earnings per share for the quarter could range from $1.37 to a high of $1.60, and for the year $5 to $5.50.

The analysts expect that total revenues will be about what they were in the fourth quarter of 1989 and for the entire year when the company reported sales of $3 billion and $9.9 billion, respectively.

Net income for the year is expected to improve significantly from 1989, when Lockheed reported earnings of $2 million. One analyst said income for the year could be as high as $90 million.

"It should be a good quarter for the company. It should be quite a turnaround because they shouldn't be reporting any losses this time. Even with the war, I wouldn't be recommending any defense stock. The only exception could be Lockheed," said Michael Lauer of Kidder, Peabody in New York New York, state, United States

Cal von Rumohr of Cowen & Co. in Boston said, "Lockheed's fourth quarter should be the strongest of the year, which could bring its earnings per share for the year in at about $5.30.
