Local Professionals Honored With PRSA Spotlight Awards.


PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1999--

The Portland Metro Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), based in New York City, is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. ) announced today the winners of its annual Spotlight Awards competition recognizing excellence in public relations and communications among practitioners statewide.

Twenty-two public relations professionals were honored with Spotlights, or top awards, and 21 practitioners received Awards of Excellence, or merit awards. Twelve local students studying public relations also were recognized with awards.

Top Spotlight award winners were Conkling Fiskum & McCormick and New Venture Communications with three Spotlights each, followed by KVO KVO Keep Vein Open

 Public Relations, Cole & Weber and the Oregon Historical Society The Oregon Historical Society (OHS) is an organization that encourages and promotes the study and understanding of the history of the Oregon Country, within the broader context of U.S. history.  garnering two awards each. The top Award of Excellence winner was Conkling Fiskum & McCormick with six awards.

And recognized for outstanding leadership and achievement in public relations was Pat McCormick, principal with Conkling, Fiskum & McCormick, recipient of the 1999 William Marsh Award.

The winners were recognized at a dinner last evening attended by more than 100 public relations professionals and students and guest speaker Sam Waltz, APR APR
