Local Legislators View High-Tech Teaching Tactics on Promethean's Interactive Whiteboards.


ATLANTA -- Georgia legislators will see Promethean's Collaborative Classroom interactive whiteboard An interactive whiteboard is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer’s desktop onto the board’s surface, where users control the computer using a pen, finger or other device.  system put through its paces at the annual Capitol Tech Day.

Every year, teams of students from schools representing the state's Educational Technology Training Centers converge on the Georgia Legislature to demonstrate the latest teaching technologies. The annual event gives local legislators an opportunity to see how these tools are helping to increase student achievement and build community partnerships within the schools.

On Monday, March 7, two of the 13 teams attending will show how they are using Promethean's ACTIVboard Collaborative Classroom system to change lessons from simple lectures to multimedia activities that engage all the members of a classroom. Students will manipulate computer images on the ACTIVboard's touch-sensitive surface and use the ACTIVstudio2 software's built-in tools such as highlighter high·light·er

 representing the First District ETTC ETTC Educational Technology Training Center (Flemington, New Jersey)
ETTC Engineering Technology Transfer Center (USC)
ETTC Environmental Technology Technical Council
ETTC Estimated Total Target Cost
 and from Upson County (Upson County Middle School) representing the Macon State College The college offers 27 majors in 13 bachelor's degree programs -- biology, business & information technology, communications & information technology, early childhood education, English, health information management, health services administration, history, information technology,  ETTC. Both will be making ongoing presentations during the event to legislators from their own booths. Attendees will also get a first-hand look at how interactive whiteboard technology can have a positive, long-lasting effect on students' academic careers.

          conducting visually interesting lessons on the whiteboard.
