BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 1996--Loan System is introducing SysLoad for NetWare, a performance management product targeted to NetWare-based LAN installations, at the Networks Expo Boston trade show and conference today.

SysLoad for NetWare supports 3.x and 4.x versions of NetWare, as well as providing full NetWare 4.1 NetWare Directory Service (NDS) support.

SysLoad for NetWare offers a complete overview of system resources to allow system managers to maintain control of their environment. Efficient alert monitoring combined with complete graphical problem reports means that system managers can identify and troubleshoot problems before they become catastrophic, thus dramatically reducing system downtime and associated operating costs. For example, system managers can quickly identify the users or groups responsible for extraordinary CPU loads, or be alerted when a workstation is running out of file resources.

Job satisfaction is increased for both users and the system management staff. Users are happier because system availability improves -- the system manager is often alerted to, and working on, the problem before it noticeably impacts workstation performance. Because SysLoad can be programmed to handle easily resolved problems automatically, system management time can be spent on more sophisticated troubleshooting and improvement projects such as system fine tuning.

SysLoad for NetWare provides support without being a resource hog. A true client/server product, SysLoad's "Collector" module resides on each server and uses less than 0.1 percent of server CPU cycles. It does not require a dedicated display console, and requires only 400 KB of memory. The "Historical File" takes advantage of compression technology to minimize system space.

NDS Support

SysLoad for NetWare offers NDS support including the ability to monitor NDS activity at any level -- from the full NDS tree to a specific department, service, or other group. It can also provide total visibility within the NDS tree for all, or specified, peripherals, disk access, volumes in use, and other physical properties being utilized.

SysLoad has two main functions: auditing and alert management. It is unique in that it is the only product available that monitors activity by user, project group, application, and application usage, as well as monitoring system resources and communications activity. It has an exclusive area-specific and SNMP "trap reporting" functions that send alerts directly to a central administrative console, alerting a system manager without requiring access to a specific SysLoad console. It allows system managers to print detailed, targeted reports on single functions such as print jobs, alerts, and applications, or to combine specified functions in reports with minimum effort for further analysis.

SysLoad provides real-time continuous monitoring of more than 60 activities, including system, communications, storage, user, application, and operating system notification functions. It provides information on the overall load of each server, and maintains a user-specified performance history. Easy-to-use commands allow system managers to analyze historical data trends to more accurately forecast load changes.

SysLoad constantly scans monitored information and identifies and displays alert data in real time. The system management team can specify their own meaningful colors and messages for alarm conditions. They can also specify the time periods and types of alarms that should be sent and how they would like to receive alerts. Troubleshooters can, for example, receive alerts via pager, voicemail, or email messages. In addition, SysLoad can be programmed to automatically respond to specified alarms.
