" about Norah Vincent's spending 18 months as male Ned, this quote really struck me: "All the guilt about being an impester, the anxiety of getting caught at it, and the by then extreme discomfort of contravening my own gender identity ..." Good Lord, does this describe the first 35 years of my life! I was born and lived as male for that long before transitioning to my true self as female. I think this describes what many transsexuals experience for a good portion of their lives.

Imagine having to live that way for 20, 30, 40 years or even your entire life, never once letting it slip that you aren't the gender people think you are. Norah had a nervous breakdown nervous breakdown
