Litton will provide an all-optical hydrophone hydrophone (hī`drəfōn'), device that receives underwater sound waves and converts them to electrical energy; the voltage generated can then be read on a meter or played through a loudspeaker. using optical technology with signal generation and data transmission based on optical technology using fiberoptic sensors, all-optical telemetry telemetry Highly automated communications process by which data are collected from instruments located at remote or inaccessible points and transmitted to receiving equipment for measurement, monitoring, display, and recording. and commercial off the shelf (COTS) non-development (NDI NDI National Death Index, see there ) items and modified COTS/NDI COTS/NDI Commercial Off-The Shelf/Non-Development Item to the greatest extent practical to meet system performance requirements. This contract contains options, which if exercised, would bring the total cumulative value of this contract to $14,778,247. Work will be performed in Woodland Hills and Goleta, Calif., and is expected to be completed by June 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
