Litton Awarded Contract For Special Operations Night Vision Sights.

 (NSWC) - Crane Division to design, develop and produce a maximum quantity of 5,300 Mini-Night Vision Sights for the U.S. Special Operations Command A subordinate unified or other joint command established by a joint force commander to plan, coordinate, conduct, and support joint special operations within the joint force commander's assigned operational area. The contract also calls for associated equipment and data requirements with first order delivery scheduled for March 1999. The total potential value of the contract to Litton is approximately $24 million.

Under the NSWC contract, LEOSD will produce a very small, high-performance Image Intensified Night Vision Weapon Sight specifically tailored for the M4A1 Carbine, with dual use as a head/helmet mounted monocular monocular /mon·oc·u·lar/ (mon-ok´u-ler)
