Little Logan jumps in to extra-large clown shoes.

MOST five-year-olds get told off for clowning around - but not Logan Roberts. Little Logan has stepped into the ring as a clown clown, a comic character usually distinguished by garish makeup and costume whose antics are both humorously clumsy and acrobatic. The clown employs a broad, physical style of humor that is wordless or not as self-consciously verbal as the traditional fool or jester.  at Bobby Roberts' Super Circus.

The youngster is the 10th generation in the Roberts family to don a loud suit and red nose and take to the ring - and he's hoping to do both dad Bobo and grandad Bobby proud.

The family-run circus, currently performing in Monkseaton, had planned to feature a musical clown troupe from Italy.

The Italians were delayed, casting doubt on the future of the show - until young Logan jumped into the ring to help out his old man.

Logan's mother ran up a costume to match Bobo's, and the five-year-old is thrilled thrill

Proud dad Bobo said: "It'll make it extra special to have Logan with me.

"I hope he'll follow in my extra-large footsteps and become a clown - I've ordered him a pair of clown boots for his birthday.

"Logan wanted to be dressed exactly like me - it'll be like having a mini-me in the ring.

"At least if anything goes wrong no one will know - we're already wearing red noses." Circus ringmaster Mike Lea said: "Logan is very excited to be in the ring with his dad.

"Ever since he was very little he's been introduced to the circus way of life - and he's always wanted to get involved himself.

He loves playing around and putting on the clowns' make-up. He's not nervous at all. Logan's quite a little performer - he's very active, always running around and doing somersaults, so I'm sure he will be a natural." For tickets, call the infoline on 07860 787745 or www.bobby-roberts.co.uk
