Scott M. Jacobs, director of LexisNexis Legal News, told NL/NL, "As of March 1, we will have 47 newsletters. I plan to launch six to eight titles this year, the next one being International Asbestos Liability (which has been announced.).

"We have attempted to launch 19 titles in the past two years- and only one of those was a 'no-go."'

Asked how they research the legal field to come up with new titles, Jacobs replied, "We look at a variety of factors when it comes to starting a newsletter on a particular type of litigation or legal specialty. Experience--Tom [Hagy] and I have a collective 35 years of experience in recognizing legal trends--counts for a lot. Without giving away too much of our game, we have developed a network of sources as well as methods (including patterns within litigation that we look for) that gives us a very good shot at success when it comes to launching a publication (or conference)," Jacobs said.
