I enjoyed reading John Van Pelt's article, "Revamping Reading" (April 2006), about his work with the reading program in the Waterloo, Iowa Waterloo is the county seat of Black Hawk County, Iowa, United States. I have strong commitment to improving this instructional area and feel our teachers must build meaningful relationships with their students. With our students returning home each day to so many different environments, we have to play a major role in their learning environment.

I am passing along Van Pelt's article to our school district's curriculum director.
