About Lite-On Semiconductor Lite-On Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Lite-On Group, is a leading manufacturer of opto-electronic device components and semiconductor solutions. Based in Taipei, Taiwan, the Company operates in three major business divisionsCoimage, discrete components and foundry. The image division produces monochrome contact image sensors (CIS) used primarily in fax machines, color CIS which are used in scanners and multifunctional printers, and CMOS camera A digital still or video camera that uses a CMOS-based image sensor chip rather than a CCD to record the picture. The CMOS image sensors enable the integration of all required camera circuits onto the same chip, making them well suited for tiny cameras such as in PDAs and cellphones. modules (CCM) which are components of handset cameras. The discrete division manufactures and sells rectifiers, Surface Mounted Device (SMD (1) (Storage Module Device) A high-performance hard disk interface used with minis and mainframes that transfers data in the 1-4 MBytes/sec range (SMD-E provides highest rate). See hard disk. ) diodes, thrysistors, and metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (electronics) Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor - (MOSFET) A Field Effect Transistor in which the conducting channel is insulated from the gate terminal by a layer of oxide. Therefore it does not conduct even if a reverse voltage is applied to the gate. (MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) The most popular and widely used type of field effect transistor (see FET). MOSFETs are either NMOS (n-channel) or PMOS (p-channel) transistors, which are fabricated as individually packaged ), which are used in telecomm equipment, monitors, power supply devices and automobile parts. The foundry division manufactures analog integrated circuits Integrated circuits Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1. (IC) and other power management ICs.
