List of top construction markets sees little change.

There was little change in the list of the top 25 metro areas This article is about the music production team. For the article about population centers, see metropolitan area.

in terms of permits issued during the first half of this year versus a year ago. The top six markets were unchanged, and only four different metro areas made the list this year.

The New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA (Metropolitan Service Area) An urban area with at least 50,000 people plus surrounding counties. There are 306 MSAs and 428 RSAs (rural service areas) in the U.S. MSAs and RSAs are used to allocate cellular licenses. ) continued to lead all metro area markets in multifamily residential construction during the first half of this year with permits issued for 21,667 units, but even this was down 5 percent from 22,909 units a year ago. It has led all markets in the first six months of each year at least in this decade.  of changes in multifamily permits than the percentage change of jobs--most of the top 25 metro areas in multifamily construction were not ranked high in the percentage of changes in jobs. For example, New York-New Jersey-Long Island metro area, the top multifamily construction market, ranked third in number of jobs added but 241st in percentage change in employment. Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, the fifth largest apartment permit market, ranked ninth in jobs added, but 109th in percentage growth in employment. The basic size of a metro area's job market affects percentage changes in jobs. The larger the market, the harder it is to achieve higher percentage growth.

Large increases in the number of jobs added in a metro area do not guarantee higher multifamily permits in any given period. The five metro areas with largest declines in the numbers of multifamily units issued permits were ranked from a low of third to a high of 28th in the number of jobs added.
