7586/40 TP3854 is a liquid silicone rubber Noun 1. silicone rubber - made from silicone elastomers; retains flexibility resilience and tensile strength over a wide temperature range
synthetic rubber, rubber - any of various synthetic elastic materials whose properties resemble natural rubber

) grade said to combine improved oil and fuel resistance, self-lubricating performance and excellent processing properties, according to the company. This fast-curing silicone elastomer elastomer (ĭlăs`təmər), substance having to some extent the elastic properties of natural rubber. The term is sometimes used technically to distinguish synthetic rubbers and rubberlike plastics from natural rubber.  may be used for gasketing and sealing applications, such as those found in under-the-hood automotive applications. The formulation of the FSL 7586/40 TP3854 grade incorporates tailored fluorine fluorine (fl`ərēn, –rĭn), gaseous chemical element; symbol F; at. no. 9; at. wt. 18.998403; m.p. −219.6°C;; b.p. −188.14°C;; density 1.  structures that enable it to help deliver processing performance similar to non-fluorinated LSRs, but with greatly enhanced chemical resistance, according to the manufacturer. The properties of this material are said to make it suitable for use in applications that require occasional contact with automotive fuels or long-term contact with most automotive oils, like connector gaskets and parts in air-intake systems. FSL 7586/40 TP3854 LSR is said to offer low compression set and low swelling, helping it to provide excellent long-term sealing. Its much lower volume swell is said to make this liquid silicone rubber product a versatile alternative to conventional, non-fluorinated grades. This grade can be used in liquid injection molding processes. The material is said to enable high-performance elastomeric parts with self-lubricating properties. (GE Advanced Materials)
