Liquid level sensors using lower cost variations of the company's Temposonics magnetostrictive sensing technology have been introduced. The modular ML sensor design is said to combine highly repeatable and reliable core sensing elements with cost-engineered housings, making the ML sensor ideal for many industries, according to the company. The ML housings come in a range of materials to accommodate applications in a wide variety of fluids that are part of heavy production equipment, including hydraulic oil and cooling water.

Historically, companies requiting feedback for their critical fluids levels were relegated to using discrete (high-low) level switches for feedback because of price, according to the company. With the ML sensor products, machine builders and fluid reservoir suppliers can obtain continuous level sensing for roughly the same price, according to the manufacturer. The continuous monitoring is said to help control the critical fluid levels more accurately and prevent catastrophic part and machine failures due to rapid loss of fluids. In addition, the continuous output between the typical level high and level low can be used to determine and trigger maintenance cycles within the machine controller.
