TAMPA BAY, Fla. -- Leading Cardiologists during a Lipicard survey said that they will prescribe PLATROL(R) for long-term cardio-protection.  among other leading cardiologists.

The Lipicard survey revealed that both Aspirin and Clopidogrel (PLAVIX(R)) are extensively used for general cardio-protection and after cardiovascular intervention -- especially after the angioplasty/insertion of stent. The Cardiologists are aware of non-responders to Aspirin and PLAVIX(R) and said that the response and effectiveness of Aspirin or PLAVIX(R) is not checked.

It is well known that all currently available antiplatelet drugs viz- Aspirin, PLAVIX(R), Persantine, Aggrastat, and Ticlid are toxic. The CAPRIE CAPRIE Cardiology A clinical trial–Clopidogrel Versus Aspirin in Patients at Risk of Ischemic Events which compared the efficacy of the antiplatelet agent, clopidogrel, with aspirin therapy as a stroke prophylaxis. See Clopidogrel.  (1996) study showed that PLAVIX(R) (Clopidogrel) and Aspirin are quite toxic with over 50% of those who take either of them suffer from various toxic side effects. However, the cardiologists said that both Aspirin and PLAVIX(R) are comparatively well tolerated.

Mr. Sambaru Prasad, CEO, Lipicard Technologies said, "PLATROL(R) -- The new antiplatelet drug improves the efficacy by 40% over Aspirin and reduces the toxicity to almost nil. And the brief survey of US cardiologists has shown that PLATROL(R) will be well received and prescribed by medicinal and interventional cardiologists."
