 World Expo announced today that the upcoming LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, taking place August 26 - 30 at The Moscone Center The Moscone Center is San Francisco, California's largest convention and exhibition complex. The complex consists of two main underground halls underneath Yerba Buena Gardens, Moscone North and Moscone South, as well the three-level Moscone West exhibition hall across 4th Street.  in San Francisco, will host the first Worldwide Developer Conference for developers of Linux and Open Source technologies. The Worldwide Developer Conference will focus specifically on the needs of application and technical developers.

), the Worldwide Developer Conference is ideal for developers of Open Source technologies looking to sharpen their skills. Attendees will participate in technical training and educational forums on Linux application design and development, delivered by some of the most influential and respected names in the Linux and Open Source communities.

The Worldwide Developer Conference will feature 17 tutorials presented by today's top Linux developers, including Guido van Rossum Guido van Rossum is a Dutch computer programmer who is best known as the author of the Python programming language. In the Python community, Van Rossum is known as a "Benevolent Dictator for Life", meaning that he continues to oversee the Python development process, making  (Python), Rasmus Lerdorf (PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessor) A scripting language used to create dynamic Web pages. With syntax from C, Java and Perl, PHP code is embedded within HTML pages for server side execution. ), Wickert Akkerman (Debian), and Larry McVoy. Additional tutorial topics will include Perl, Embedded Linux, GNOME gnome (nōm), in folklore, tiny subterranean creature associated with mines and quarries. Usually represented as misshapen, frequently as hunchbacked, gnomes are said to be guardians of hidden treasures.  and KDE (K Desktop Environment) A GUI-based user interface primarily for Unix and Linux machines, but also available for Windows and Mac. The source code is freely distributed and is maintained by developers around the world. . The program will also feature more than 25 conference sessions focused on the most up-to-date developer practices.
