AMCAL Multi-Housing Inc. will break ground in September on a 174-unit senior housing facility on Philips Boulevard near Garvey Avenue in Pomona. Whether its residents will be able to test their wine-tasting palates next door remains to be seen.

 Portofino Villas, will be the developer's second senior housing facility in that city. It has already opened the 174-unit Serenity Villas on Bonita Bonita (Spanish and Portuguese for "beautiful") is the name of:

  • Bonita, Louisiana
 Avenue.

The five-acre Portofino site includes a 4,500-square-foot building that originally housed the Hugues Winery win·er·y
