Lighthouse and Reckson have big plans for Long Island site.


The Lighthouse Development Group and Reckson Associates Realty Corp. announced a partnership to develop the proposed Lighthouse Project at Long Island.

The announcement was made jointly by Lighthouse Development Group founder and New York Islanders The New York Islanders are a professional ice hockey team based in Uniondale, a hamlet located on Long Island in Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, United States.  owner Charles Wang and Reckson president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Scott Rechler.

The parties have agreed to develop residential, commercial and retail components of the plan that will transform the area surrounding the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum For other uses, see Coliseum.

, home to Wang's two major professional sports franchises, the New York Islanders and New York Dragons The New York Dragons are an Arena Football League team who were formed in 1995 as the Iowa Barnstormers. In 2001, the team relocated to New York. They currently play in the Eastern Division of the National Conference. .

The project will also include a planned sports technology center, a state-of-the-art conference facility and the Lighthouse tower. In conjunction with this project will be the transformation of the Coliseum and associated state-of-the-art athletic complex and sports training facilities.

In making today's announcement, the partners emphasized the advantages of pulling together the 77-acre Coliseum site with the 14-acre Marriott Hotel site, which Wang currently is under contract to acquire, located in the immediate vicinity of approximately 2.6 million s/f of class A office space owned by Reckson.
