Lifetime and Warner Home Video Get up Close and Personal With the Golden Girls; Life Stories of America's Favorite Senior Sweethearts, Told in Their Own Words; Four-Part DVD Available November 15.

BURBANK, Calif. -- This holiday season, Warner Home Video (WHV) and the Lifetime Network get cozy with four young-at-heart girls from Miami when Golden Girls: Lifetime Intimate Portraits Series hits stores November 15.

Timed to coincide with the home entertainment release of The Golden Girls: The Complete Third Season, the four-part biographical DVD will retail for $14.98 (SRP).

The Golden Girls: Lifetime Intimate Portraits Series DVD contains four individual biographies of beloved actresses Beatrice (Bea) Arthur (Dorothy), Betty White (Rose), Rue McClanahan (Blanche) and Estelle Getty (Sophia). Each woman's background, rise to stardom, private life and deepest personal stories are approached with honesty and sincerity. Viewers will laugh and cry as the ladies who made America's favorite senior sweethearts come to life and share their life stories with candor, poignancy and humor. The DVD also features narrations by Valerie Harper, John Ritter and Alex Trebek and guest appearances by Angela Lansbury, Harvey Fierstein, Norman Lear, Mary Tyler Moore, Edward Asner, Rosie O'Donnell and other friends of The Golden Girls cast.

Premiering in January 1995, Lifetime's award-winning Intimate Portrait series, delved into the lives of celebrated women by providing a personal perspective on some of the most impressive women in art, entertainment, politics, business, science, journalism and sports. Through stories told by their friends, coworkers and relatives, viewers learned about the ups and downs, heartaches and happy endings that shaped the life of their favorite woman who in turn, also shared her life story. Hosted by Meredith Viera (The View), Intimate Portrait gave women everywhere the opportunity to connect their own life experiences with those of extraordinary, well-known women whom they'd like to know better. For nine years, the show profiled remarkable women who believed in themselves, overcame their obstacles and achieved their goals; women such as the exceptional cast of The Golden Girls, whose real lives are just as funny, inspirational and moving as they are on screen.

One of the most honored and highly rated sitcoms on television, the Emmy Award-winning series The Golden Girls introduced four amazing women to generations of fans for seven wonderful seasons. For this reason, it came as no surprise when Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty -- all of whom garnered Emmys for their performance in the series -- were profiled on Intimate Portrait.
