Lifestream Technologies Ships First Product.

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BW HealthWire)--Dec. 10, 1998--Lifestream Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:LFST), a developer of healthcare diagnostic instruments, today announced that it has begun shipping its new Lifestream Technologies(tm) cholesterol monitor for healthcare professionals.

Lifestream received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 1998 to market the Lifestream cholesterol monitor as a professional-use, point of care, in vitro diagnostic device for the measurement of total cholesterol in fingerstick whole blood samples. Total cholesterol measurements aid in the detection of persons who may be at risk for coronary heart disease and aid in the management of patients undergoing therapy with lipid-lowering drugs.

The Lifestream Technologies cholesterol monitor is a hand-held instrument that accurately screens and monitors total cholesterol from just one drop of blood in about three minutes. Lifestream plans to offer additional analyte blood tests in the future, further expanding the diagnostic technology developed for the Lifestream Technologies cholesterol monitor.

Since receipt of FDA clearance, Lifestream has taken the steps necessary to launch its first product with the successful completion of pre-production qualification runs and, most recently, limited production of the Lifestream Technologies cholesterol monitor. With limited production underway, the company has begun shipping its backlog of professional orders received since early October and expects manufacturing at the company's Post Falls, Idaho, facility to increase in the first quarter of 1999.
