Hosted by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, abbreviated as AAFPRS, is the world's largest organization of facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons.  (AAFPRS AAFPRS American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery ), this gala event was designed to raise funds to benefit one of the Academy's pro-bono programs called FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence Project.

FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence Project was developed in 1994 through a partnership between AAFPRS and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV NCADV National Coalition Against Domestic Violence ) to provide complimentary facial reconstructive and plastic surgery to survivors of domestic violence who have suffered facial, head and neck injuries, but cannot afford reconstructive treatment.

In addition to being the major sponsor, LifeCell Corporation will provide AlloDerm and Cymetra free of charge to beneficiaries of the FACE TO FACE program whose procedures are deemed medically appropriate for AlloDerm and Cymetra use.

AlloDerm's primary applications include dermal grafts for full-thickness burn injuries, periodontal and gingival gingival (jin´jv  grafts, and dermal dermal /der·mal/ (der´mal) pertaining to the dermis or to the skin.
