A Type I PFD will keep even unconscious people afloat in a face–up position; it is the most common type used at sea. (LPU-10) every 120 days. That was correct as stated in multi-service Air Force/Army T.O. 14S-1-102 and TM 5-4220-202-14. The Army has decided to require LPU-10 inspection every 180 days, even though Air Force message STRAP-M-9700045G-CC-R says 360 days plus or minus 10 days.
