Liduino Pitombeira named MTNA-Shepherd Distinguished Composer of the Year.Liduino Pitombeira has been selected as the 2003 MTNA-Shepherd Distinguished Composer of the Year for his composition Brazilian Landscapes. Pitombeira is presently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in composition at Louisiana State University Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, generally known as Louisiana State University or LSU, is a public, coeducational university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and the main campus of the Louisiana State University System. , where he studies with Dinos Constantinides. He received a bachelor of music degree from Universidade Estadual do Ceara (Brazil) in the spring of 1996 and a master of music degree from Louisiana State University in the summer of 2000. He also studied composition with Jose Alberto Kaplan, Vanda Ribeiro Costa and Tarcisio Jose de Lima, in Brazil. Performances of his works have been given by The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, Louisiana Sinfonietta sin·fo·niet·ta n. 1.
