Liberty Tree Grove.

In North Fayette, Pennsylvania, residents are taking up a project with two important goals: to improve the environment and to honor the military. As part of the "Green Up For Our Troops" program, the latest undertaking is a grouping of memorial trees dubbed the Liberty Tree Grove, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The seven trees chosen have special significance to the military; all are trees from AMERICAN FORESTS' Historic Tree Program. Each is the offspring of a tree that stood witness to pivotal events in our nation's history, such as the Gettysburg Address. The park will also include benches dedicated to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Frank Blaskowitz, who heads up the project, says that its location, a park neighboring an elementary school, is especially significant. He hopes it will encourage children to have honor and respect for their nation's veterans, as well as its environment.
