LexisNexis expands legal research content with purchase of Weil Publishing.
LexisNexis (Dayton, OH), a division of Reed Elsevier, has acquired
Weil Publishing Company (Augusta, ME), a publisher of state
administrative codes, state government registers, and regulatory
indexes. No terms of the deal were given.
Established in 1986, Weil's collection of publications
includes 15 state codes, 14 state registers and 14 guides (indexes) to
state rules and regulations, all sold primarily on a subscription basis.
Subscription prices range from $1130 to $1995 for state administrative
codes, $175 for state guides and $695 to $1295 for state registers. 2he
company provides other state legal information through a monthly report
on New York employment law and online services for Montana law. Well is
also the official publisher of Montana Supreme Court cases.
LexisNexis has had a licensing relationship with Weil since 1996.
LexisNexis said the acquired assets will complement existing
editorial products in a number of jurisdictions and markets and increase
the company's administrative code capabilities.
