LexisNexis Retains National E-Filing and Court Technology Expert; J. Michael Greenwood, Leader of U.S. Courts' E-Filing Service, Selected as Senior Advisor.


DAYTON, Ohio -- LexisNexis a leading provider of legal, news and business information services, today announced that Dr. J. Michael Greenwood, one of the key architects of the U.S. Federal Courts' e-filing system, known as "CM/ECF CM/ECF Case Management/Electronic Case Files " and the Public Access to Court Electronic Records system known as "PACER" has agreed to serve as a senior advisor and consultant.

Greenwood, who has extensive knowledge of e-filing, electronic case management and electronic public access, will provide expertise on technology and market development for the group in charge of LexisNexis(R) File & Serve.

The federal e-filing system launched in 1996 has achieved significant success. Over 153,000 lawyers have filed tens of millions of documents and docket entries through the system. Over 150 U.S. district and bankruptcy courts have implemented CM/ECF to date. Only LexisNexis File & Serve rivals CM/ECF in terms of the volume of transactions or number of users. LexisNexis File & Serve, launched over a decade ago, processes over six million filing and service documents annually and has over 50,000 lawyers, judges, clerks, and other legal professionals as registered users.
