Lexington Homes Honored with Award at International Builders Show; Builder Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Service Given to Lexington Homes.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- Lexington Homes, Inc., http://www.lexhomes.net, a New Port Richey-based builder of custom homes throughout Florida's Suncoast, was honored today for its exceptional philanthropic contributions at a ceremony held at the 62nd Annual International Builders' Show in Orlando.

As the National Housing Endowment Builder Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Service - Bronze award recipient, Lexington Homes receives national recognition and will direct the $2,500 received with this award to the Jessica Marie Lunsford Foundation -- http://www.jmlfoundation.com -- whose mission is to help children in crisis through advocacy, awareness and law enforcement assistance.

This was the first year the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) presented awards to honor builders who "reflected the generosity and unwavering commitment to the communities they build." There was great demand and intense competition for these inaugural awards as more than two-and-a-half times more applications were received than expected.

ABC Action News and WQYK 99.5 FM along with other community leaders stepped forward without hesitation when we needed them and were in with us every single step of the way."

In 2005, Lexington Homes united 450 organizations from six states to deliver $1.75 million of projects including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Extreme Makeover: Jessica's Playground, Extreme Makeover: Kennel Edition, K-Jobs and supported more than 30 local charities. Best known in the Tampa Bay area was the project for the Dolan family on ABC-TV's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition last March. This five-day event drew thousands of additional contributors; from roofers to furniture companies and manufacturers of special electronics to meet the special needs of Jamie Dolan who had been blinded in a tragic shooting at a local mall. More than 10,000 spectators came out on the day celebrity host Ty Pennington shouted, "move that bus." This was the largest turnout the show had ever experienced.

This event led to Lexington's own "Extreme Makeover: Kennel Edition" as their crews refurbished the much-in-need-of-repair facilities for the Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. in Palmetto, Florida. Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. had donated a guide dog for Dolan, a black Labrador puppy known as "Lexie."

One of the sub-contractors who worked for Lexington was the father of Jessica Marie Lunsford, the Citrus County 9-year old girl who was murdered by a sex offender and in whose name new state predator laws have now been written. The Lexington Homes team built a half acre playground, Extreme Makeover: Jessica's Playground, designed especially for the elementary school where Jessica had been a student; Homosassa Elementary School. All work was done under borrowed lights, after school hours and all on volunteer time.
