ICONIC Liverpool department store Lewis's is taking its first steps online after 153 years.
The store has launched its first website as part of a new marketing push to attract new audiences, including younger shoppers and tourists.
The site has been designed by Liverpool agency CL3, and Lewis's owner, Vergo retail, hopes it will attract more people to the store, which has seen visitor numbers fall since the opening of Liverpool One.

He said: "We hadn't seen the need for a website for over 150 years. But we are now attracting new people to the store via the internet, and the exclusive online downloads are providing the incentive to shoppers.
"A website is a very good thing to have from a marketing perspective. It's a good way of informing people that we're around and about the sheer magnitude of what we've got - a lot of people don't realise the range of products we sell.
"It's also another way to communicate with people about our promotions, particularly at key times.
"We intend to develop it further with an interactive element so people can let us know what they feel about what's going on What's Going On is a record by American soul singer Marvin Gaye.
