SA Faith Jackson is British-born with strict but loving Jamaican parents. It's the wild late '70s and Faith, who majored in textile design, is trying to launch a career as a costume assistant. She was brought up in middle-class London, and her parents made few efforts to connect her to her heritage. She experiences a few racial slights in the early years but, mostly, Faith is happy as the only black among an accepting circle of hip party-goers.
